Charlie Kirk sadly passed on Wednesday, September 10, after being shot while speaking at an event held at Utah Valley University. Born on October 14, 1993, Charlie was a patriot who loved his family and his country. Kirk is famous for debating his right-winged political beliefs with college students, and his own YouTube channel has 3.8 million subscribers. Politicians on both sides of the political spectrum from President Donald Trump to the former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, highlighted how he was a great father and an amazing patriot.

Utah governor Spencer Cox stated, “I don’t care what his politics are, I care that he was an American.” Many politicians all agreed that political violence is unacceptable. Cox said it best when he stated, “we just need every single person in this country to think about where we are, and where we want to be.”

This tragic event comes after two assassination attempts against President Donald J. Trump, with the Butler PA incident, actually injuring the president after a bullet entered his ear. Trump has previously stated, “I was saved by God to make America great again.” There was a second assassination attempt on President Trump while the second being right outside of Trump international golf course. The second incident was prevented thanks to agents from the United States Secret Service.

Other political violence attacks include the attempted arson on Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro’s house, and the murder of a Minnesota state lawmaker Mellisa Hortman and her husband. No matter what political party one may align oneself with, every individual must come to an agreement that gun violence and political violence needs to end. No person should be shot because someone doesn’t agree with their political beliefs.

As students walk through the halls of BHS, many have heard many students saddened by his death as he had a great connection with the younger generation. Even if you don’t agree with his outspoken values and beliefs, he was a father and a husband; whereas now many people are forever impacted by his tragic death. Many can agree, Charlie Kirk said it best with the quote, “Never give up, never surrender, and always go for the win.”
