The Circle

It starts with flimsy bones

There is thin, delicate hair showering your head

Your gums mimic slick, wet pavement

Navigating the world through someone else’s perspective

The transition into exploration is unnoticed

You feel the cold winds

Causing your growing muscles to tense

You see brilliant blossoms

Bringing never before seen colors to your vision

You are consumed by heat waves

Burning away at your adolescence

And fallen leaves blanket the ground around you

Leaving no trace of the path you’ve begun to create

Through risk and consequence

Your mind is filled with knowledge

Nearly shattering every strong bone

And straining your mature muscles

Making the feeling of pain prevalent

You begin to realize

You are no longer invincible

To be shoved out of the nest

Forced to navigate on your own

Before you know it

Your bones are flimsy

You have thin, delicate hair showering your head

Your gums are slick like wet pavement

And you have navigated the world through your own perspective
