In the land of Molrum, nestled behind the Udon Mountains, lay the region known as the Hill of Reigns. Here, the Dwarves call this place home, building their homes on the sides of this hill, but never at the top. They worked the rich veins of ores and gems that ran deep below it. Among these stalwart Dwarves lived a young and ambitious miner named Cerol Bombal. The tales of ancient treasures of copper, silver, and gold sparked an interest within Cerol. At the age of nineteen, he began his apprenticeship under the skilled miner and mentor, Logen Inkedkindling. “Ah, young Cerol, you have the hands of a miner and the heart of a mountain,” Logen said, clapping the young Dwarf on the back as they entered the mines of Lakescopper. “Let’s see if we can find that glimmering gold vein your father used to tell you about!”
With a glint of excitement in his eye, Cerol gripped his pickaxe and followed Logen deep into the dark caverns of the mine. Their torches flickered, casting eerie shadows on the walls as they descended further into the earth.
“Keep your eyes sharp, lad,” Logen advised. “The secrets of these rocks are hidden deep, but they’ll reveal themselves to those who see.”
Cerol nodded, his heart pounding with anticipation. He knew that this moment could be a turning point in his life, a chance to prove himself worthy of his father’s legacy.
“I’ve got a feeling about this tunnel, Master Logen,” Cerol remarked one day, chipping away at the rock with his pickaxe. “There’s somethin’ special ‘about it.”
Logen chuckled a gruff yet warm sound that echoed through the mine. “Trust your instincts, laddy. Mining is as much about feeling the earth as it is about wielding a pickaxe.” With each strike of his pickaxe, the rocks seemed to speak to him, guiding him toward the elusive gold vein that lay hidden within the walls of the mine. Then, on that fateful day, the pickaxe struck something different—a glimmering vein that shimmered with an otherworldly brilliance. Cerol’s heart raced as he brushed away the dirt from his face, revealing the unmistakable sight of gold.
“By my beard. You’ve done it, Cerol!” exclaimed Logen with glee and amazement. “You’ve struck gold!”
News of Cerol’s discovery spread like wildfire through the Dwarven community, and soon, the mines of Lakescopper buzzed with activity and excitement. His feat was nothing short of remarkable for such a young miner, and his discovery brought much-needed prosperity to the Hill of Reigns. In recognition of his achievements, the elders bestowed upon him the title of “Master Miner.” Cerol Bombal’s prowess in the mines only began to grow, and he became an inspiration for miners.
