A crimson fox

With a cream tipped tail

Scurried along

Under the garden veil

Rabbit locked in its jaws

Red teeth pressing down

It snuck into a tree

Without making a sound

Closes the door

His wife is making stew

Needs one more ingredient

A rabbit will do

A dash of salt

A pinch of pepper

Good food warms the soul

Makes a fox a bit better

The garden man stares at the tree

Sitting lone in a firefly field

He saw a cream tipped tail

Grab the family cat for a meal

The garden man doesn’t hesitate

To knock at the tree

The fox opens the door

A shotgun he could never foresee

He prayed to a fox god

To think he had the gall

The stew got cold

He painted crimson on the wall
