From September 13th through the 21st of 2024, the Frederick Fair is here!
The fair comes every year during the autumn season, allowing us to experience the wondrous activities it provides. With the many animals, 4H activities, rides, foods, and games to play, each and every one of them are different and alike. The prizes to win and memories to share being great and something to remember for months to come. While the fair may seem repetitive if visited a lot, just remember nothing is ever the same, as things are always changing. Going with friends and family can provide so many new experiences. Some things like rides may not be of your interest but with friends, you could jump into enjoying such things. The Great Frederick Fair is something adored by those in our county and those around the area as well.
With hours spent at the fair, food and drinks become a necessity.
There are many vendors throughout the grounds, one location in the middle of the grounds containing a variety of food and beverage trucks, with plenty of meals to share. A few wonderful delights are as such: fried pickles, crab cakes, funnel cakes, fried Oreos, corn dogs, fries, potato chips, and drinks like lemonade, water, smoothies, boba, and tea. These foods, while greasy and hot, are delicious and will have you wanting seconds.
A current sophomore, Aeriana Carter, mentions how she loves the vendor Tiki Tea: “They have souvenir cups and all types of teas, with one free refill [with certain sizes] … it’s not too sweet, and has the good ice, that you can only get at amusement events, like the fair.”
Fellow sophomore, Alexa Ricketts, shared she loved funnel cakes when asked what her favorite part of the Frederick Fair was: “funnel cakes, funnel cakes, funnel cakes…”
Rides and games usually are the focal point of the fair though.
The family friendly rides will have the kids screaming for more, the ones pointed for the older ones having more variance in them. Games include prizes of many sizes and scales, types of animals and toys shaped to fit the current trends. Stuffed cows, dragons, giraffes, all of which adored by the public shared by the winning of a few simple games.
Don’t forget to visit the livestock too!
Victoria Christman, Brunswick sophomore, “loves the dairy and meat show, where they walk the cattle, and the poultry barn. The poultry barn is pretty cool.”
Reportedly there was a birth of two baby cows on September 15th, one was overdue by eight days at the time, the other overdue by three days.
There is also a foal that you can submit potential names for—so you could be the person who named the animal! With many other livestock you can pet such as pigs, cows, horses and many more.
