The Brunswick Boys Varsity Basketball season came to an end on March 4, 2025. The Roaders fought hard but couldn’t come out on top against South Carroll. Even with the loss, the Railroaders had a great season, they went 11-7 and made it to the playoffs, losing in the Regional semi-finals. Brunswick does have four seniors graduating, and they have been a big part of Brunswick’s success.
# 14 Jackson Dudley—Was the point guard for the Roaders and would control the court and set up the play for Brunswick. Dudley was a great floor general and with his four years of varsity experience, it allowed for Dudley to be a great leader.
# 10 Mark Cooke—Is the type of player you want on every team, Cooke is a great teammate along with being a great player. Cooke does the dirty work down low while also playing great defense and out playing whoever is guarding him. Cooke was probably the most physical player for Brunswick, setting the bar for how hard the Roaders can play.
# 12 Eli Miller—A guard for Brunswick, was efficient all year long. Miller was a three point shooter who could also handle the ball and get to the rim. Miller was clutch from three the whole year and came up big for Brunswick in some big moments. Most of Miller’s shots gave Brunswick the momentum or kept the momentum of Brunswick’s side.
#20 Jacob Genos—Who nearly played every position for Brunswick, and played it well. Jacob could work down low and could also bring the ball up the court. Genos could get to the hoop and later in the season he was lethal from three. Brunswick will miss these guys but the fans have some good, young, talent to look forward to.
Larry Brown, the Head Coach, explains, “The team has improved a lot from last year because our buy in on defense is what really helped us improve. We have guys who are committed to playing good defense within our concepts and schemes. There is a lot more communication and rotating, allowing us to be great defensively.” Brunswick throughout the whole season played phenomenal defense, which allowed them to play the game at their pace, resulting in more wins.
Chemistry also allows for great defense and Brown had this to say about the team chemistry. “The senior leadership is great and everyone gets along allowing for good chemistry. It starts with Jackson Dudley who is a guy with four years of varsity experience, which allows him to recognize what the other team is doing. Then obviously you have Mark and Jacob who play football and are captains for the football team, and basketball team, and those guys really set the tone for the other guys to follow.” Last year Brunswick had great athletes but almost no chemistry, there were too many guys trying too excessively. This year the team looked like it gelled together, people were communicating and anticipating what the others were doing, which then allowed them to win close games.
The fans can tell from the sideline that Coach Brown loves what he does and that he really enjoyed coaching this team.

“When you have a good team like this it makes my job more fun. When everybody is buying in, it doesn’t matter if you win or lose because the effort that we play with, I feel like we can be in any game. It doesn’t matter if we’re going down five or ten points, because we have and we’ve been able to fight back. Some teams will fold when down by ten, and then the ten point lead turns into a 15 point lead and it’s even tougher to come back. But these guys are very gritty and they keep fighting.”
This was Brunswick’s motto the whole year. Brunswick fought till the very end every game and showed grit throughout the whole season. While Brunswick didn’t win it all, the improvement from 3-14 to 10-7 made it a great season. Coach Brown and the Brunswick fans are expecting big things from them next year.
