What does being on the staff of The Garnet and Gold Gazette mean to you?
Being a part of this amazing newspaper has been nothing but rewarding. I have been introduced to something I now truly love and get to share my writing with our community. I love bringing awareness to things people in our community wouldn’t read about, so being a part of the G & G Gazette has been an absolute dream.
How has being on the staff impacted you?
As a first year staff member of the newspaper, so much of my future has changed. Going into my senior year I thought I’d be minoring in something related to my major, but the G & G Gazette brought me a new passion and that is writing. I now plan to attend the University of Delaware and major in Kinesiology, but also minor in Journalism.
What advice do you have for upcoming journalism students?
I would tell all upcoming journalism students to never hold back. This class allows you to have so much freedom, so take it while you have it. You can write about things you feel are important and should be talked about, things you’re passionate about, and more. This is your opportunity to share what you want with your community.
Favorite high school memory?
Earlier this year I said winning Homecoming Queen was my favorite high school memory, but after looking back at all of high school I would say that our senior night football game this year tops all memories. At this game so much of our community came out and supported not just the seniors, but community members that have passed or fighting cancer. There were many tears shed that night and even more memories made.
What are your plans after high school?
After high school I plan to attend the University of Delaware to study Kinesiology. Along with attending UD academically, I fortunately get to continue my dance career as a new incoming member of their dance team.
