A new faculty member joins the Roader family at Brunswick High School!
Ms. Miller, a first year English teacher and New Jersey native, starts her prosperous career draped in garnet and gold!
Growing up, she was home schooled from elementary through high school, falling in love with reading in the process. She later moved to Colorado, attending Colorado State University in 2020.
Miller initially went to college for General Studies, but later transitioned her attention into the field of teaching. She landed on teaching English thanks to her love of literature. “I feel that not enough people like reading. Reading is a door that opens opportunities,” Miller said.
Despite Covid-19 interfering with her college education, Miller graduated and returned to her home state of Maryland. Living in Montgomery County, Miller decided to begin her teaching career at Brunswick High School thanks to her shared border with Montgomery County.
Miller believes she couldn’t have started in a more welcoming environment. “The staff here are so supportive of new teachers,” Miller said.

Students and staff are also excited at Miller’s arrival, fellow English teacher Ms. Rebekah McCord elaborated on the great addition to the English department, “She is very willing to try new things and is a great member of the English department team. She is always so warm and welcoming,” said McCord.
Students enjoyed class in English 9, Brunswick freshman, Anabelle Whiting, shared on her own experience: “She lists everything we do and provides a plan. She makes it very easy to follow where I won’t get overwhelmed,” Whiting said.
Of the many states she has lived in over the years, Miller’s favorite is Maryland. She recalls a memory of watching the constellations in the clear night sky, bringing her to a place you can’t find anywhere else. One of her favorite thing’s about the blue crab state is, unsurprisingly, the amazing food!
Miller is very family oriented, mentioning her strong bond with her mother who has been her best friend and teacher since she was young. She also has many interests which include reading books. Her favorite genre’s include: Classic Literature, Manga, and anything Sci-Fi. Miller enjoys watching anime and hanging with her two cats: Bilbo and Silvia, as well as a turtle: Alfonse.
She is very happy to be a Roader and is looking forward to finishing out her first year!
