Earth Day
How Important The Environment Is To Us
More than a billion people celebrate earth day to protect the planet from things like pollution and deforestation. By taking part in activities such as planting trees and picking up litter. The first earth day was celebrated in nineteen seventy when a senator from Wisconsin organized a national demonstration to raise awareness about environmental issues. Rally’s then took place across the country and by the end of the year, the U.S government had created the environmental protection agency. By nineteen ninety earth day became an event celebrated by more than one hundred countries across the globe.
Some things you can do to help the environment would be planting a tree, turning off the lights when they’re not in use, limiting your water usage, volunteering to clean up at parks, recycling items, and spreading the message. 🙂
Some fun facts: One reusable bag can prevent the use of six hundred plastic bags, recycling one can of soda can save enough energy to power a TV for three hours, shutting down a computer when not in use cuts energy consumption by eighty five percent and for every mile walked instead of driven, nearly one pound of pollution is kept out of the air, and paper is the most recycled material in the U.S.
