Is hopeless care
Like the pecking dove
In the pigeon’s stare.
What comes with love
Is friendly banter
Like pigeon to dove,
Love a wicked enchanter.
What love does bring
Is many a night
Where the dove folds a wing
And bids pigeon goodnight
And hope, the pigeon does, for a tomorrow with the dove
Trapped in the coils of the snake called “love.”
