Each year, fans across the galaxy mark their calendars for May the 4th, now known as Star Wars Day. “May the Fourth be with you” began as a playful pun that has now grown into a multi day celebration of one of pop culture’s longest lasting franchises. In 2025, the Force is stronger than ever, with three consecutive days of themed events, streaming releases, and fanfare – May the 4th, Revenge of the 5th, and Return of the 6th.
This year’s festivities kicked off on May 4 with the highly anticipated premiere of Tales Of The Underworld, a new animated anthology series exploring the lives of the bounty hunters thriving in the shadows of the Galactic Empire. With a tone darker than its predecessor, Tales Of The Jedi. This series brings a gritty edge to the animated Star Wars universe, delving into the moral grey zones of familiar characters such as Asajj Ventress and Cad Bane. It follows the two during the events we never saw on screen.
On Revenge of the 5th, Star Wars fans celebrated the saga’s darker side, with Sith-themed content, cosplay events, and character spotlights. The date, which playfully riffs on Revenge of the Sith continues to gain traction each year as a companion holiday honoring iconic villains like Darth Vader , Emperor Palpatine , and the newer additions like Kylo Ren and The Stranger.
The celebration rounded out with Return of the 6th, a fan-created nod to Return of the Jedi. Although not officially recognized by Disney, it’s increasingly embraced by the fandom, often as a day to reflect on the saga’s legacy of redemption, balance, and heroism.
Meanwhile, Disney Parks joined the celebration with their wildly popular Star Wars Nite events, held on select evenings in the month of May. These after-hours experiences transform areas of Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios into galactic destinations, complete with themed food, fireworks, exclusive character meet-and-greets, and immersive entertainment. Fans in full costume roamed Batuu and beyond, turning the parks into real-life cantinas and Rebel outposts.
This year’s Star Wars Week is also marked by the return of the critically acclaimed series Andor with Season 2 episodes dropping every Tuesday on Disney+. The first episode of season 2 started on April 22 and episodes are dropping every Tuesday until May 13. The new season picks up with Cassian Andor continuing his journey toward full-fledged rebellion, delivering a gritty and emotional narrative that builds toward the events of Rogue One.
Disney and Lucasfilm have embraced the momentum, releasing exclusive merchandise, hosting in-park events, and streaming special behind-the-scenes features throughout the week.
From the joyful beginnings of May the 4th to the grim depths of Revenge of the 5th and the hopeful close of Return of the 6th, Star Wars “Week” 2025 showcases the franchise’s ability to evolve and inspire across generations. With fresh content like Tales of the Underworld and Andor leading the charge, there’s never been a better time to say: May the Force be with you.
To celebrate, say “Hello There” to a fan, watch the movies, or even just say “May the Force be with you” – anyone can celebrate, even the nonfans.
