The Garnet and Gold Gazette do a Faces of BHS post each week to highlight an amazing student, who has contributed to Brunswick High School and displayed qualities of leadership and is a hard-working student. This week the Gazette wants to highlight Megan Dick, a freshman.
Megan Dick is new to BHS but not the Brunswick Community. Her older sister Jenna Dick, a recent graduate of BHS who now goes to Mount Saint Mary’s and she both have always been involved in community activities. She has participated and won previous American Legion Auxiliary scholarships for the Brunswick ALA Post.
Additionally, Dick continues on her sister’s legacy paving her own way with the BHS Poms team! She is a fierce new addition to the team, where she brings technique and sass to all choreography. Outside of Poms, Dick has been dancing for 12 years and has been on her studio’s competition team for ten years!
Alongside dance, Dick is on the varsity Flag Football team! A fellow teammate Clara Nickols, freshmen, works alongside Dick on the varsity Flag football team and on the Poms team. Clara said “…I’m really lucky to have her as a teammate in Poms and flag football. She’s a beast on and off the field, and her positive attitude is something I’ve always loved about her.”
Dick also has been involved with student government in middle school and now continues to strive towards bringing spirit to BHS as a freshmen class officer. In addition, Dick is involved in the Best Buddies Club and Bible Club! Entering into high school can be overwhelming for many but Megan came into BHS excited for the year! She said, “I am most excited for meeting new people, being challenged with my schoolwork and being able to do the clubs and sports I enjoy.”
All of her experiences in a diverse group of clubs and community involvement, have made her an excellent candidate for Faces of BHS. She truly embodies what a Railroader should look like and shows a great future for BHS.
