The Garnet and Gold Gazette do a Faces of BHS post each week to highlight an amazing student, who has contributed to Brunswick High School and displayed qualities of leadership and is a hard-working student. This week the Gazette wants to highlight Abigail (Abbie) Parry, a sophomore.
Abbie Parry is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Parry is currently a sophomore of many talents. Parry is involved with many BHS clubs, and varsity sports. Perry is a member of the BHS Varsity Field Hockey team. Parry has been playing field hockey for seven years and is also on a travel team. Her speed, focus, and work ethic is a key asset for the team.
Additionally, Parry is a member of the BHS Poms team. She joined her freshmen year as she has a small dance background and continues to bring energy and enthusiasm to the team! Parry’s favorite part about being a Roaderette is “performing and participating in all the team bonding activities,” Parry said. Alongside her participation in sports, she is involved with Student Government, Drama Club, No Place 4 Hate, and Full Steam Ahead. This year, Parry took the initiative to establish BHS’s Morgan’s Message, which is a club dedicated to promoting athletes’ mental wellness and brings awareness to the mental health stigma around athletes.
Parry is also involved with the BMS play, Newsies. Parry has taken lead on choreographing, designing sets, as well as establishing lights and sounds for the middle school’s play. She has always been involved with drama and theater and wants to continue to help middle school students find that same passion.
Parry’s sister, Katie Parry, senior, said, “My sister has always had such an amazing work ethic and a drive for excellence. She is always busy with sports, clubs, and volunteering at the middle school, while she maintains good grades. I am extremely proud of her dedication to multiple causes and her leadership skills.” All her experiences in a diverse group of clubs have made him an excellent candidate for Faces of BHS. Abbie truly embodies what a Railroader should look like for future roaders to learn to lead as an example.
