The 2024 Presidential Election is approaching us quickly, but with two extremely controversial politicians running, many Americans are left wondering: “is there a good option?” As of right now, it is very possible that the next election is going to look very similar to the one we saw in 2020, as both current president, Joe Biden, and former president, Donald Trump, have intentions to run for reelection. However, it is now confirmed that both politicians have been caught with classified information in their private residences.

61% of the public think Trump should not seek the presidency, compared with 30% who believe he should. And 70% say Biden should not run for a second term with just 19% supporting a run.

Back in August of 2022, Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence was Raided by the FBI. During this raid, around 300 classified documents were found throughout the home, and now more recently, after a number of consensual searches, Joe Biden has been found storing classified documents in both his private office in Washington D.C., and his Wilmington home.

Nevertheless, there is one major difference between these discoveries. Donald Trump was provided with a search warrant from the FBI after he refused to return the documents, while Joe Biden agreed to the searches, and returned all of the classified documents within a day of their discovery. While President Biden’s actions were inexcusable and irresponsible, it is clear that his intentions were very different, and not as criminal as Donald Trump’s potentially were, as he is currently under investigation by the Department of Justice.

However, even though it is likely that President Joe Biden’s intentions were not harmful, it has recently been very evident that the American people want someone new in office. According to the CNBC All-American Economic Survey, “61% of the public think Trump should not seek the presidency, compared with 30% who believe he should. And 70% say Biden should not run for a second term with just 19% supporting a run.” This distinct imbalance shows that Americans feel that someone new in office would provide the country with the fresh start and ideas that it needs.
