Are you interested in helping out Frederick’s local animals? Brunswick High School’s Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) Club is doing a pet supply drive for the Frederick Humane Society.

Founded in 1910, the Frederick Humane Society (FCHS) is a non-profit organization working to help local animals. They are not an animal shelter. FCHS does not work with animal control, take surrendered animals, or provide pets for adoption.

Their mission is to advocate for animal welfare—they provide affordable services, programs, and resources to keep pets happy and healthy in their homes.

RAK has not paid much attention to animals in the past, so I knew I wanted to change that.

The Frederick Humane Society relies solely on grants, private donations, and fundraisers. This supply drive could be a huge help to FCHS and save many local pets.

When RAK leader Alexandra Swam was assigned with the task of coming up with a cause to donate to for the month of February she immediately knew who she wanted to help. Alexandra says, “I decided to start this donation drive with the Frederick Humane Society because I felt that along with the many health charities we’ve done drives for, RAK also needed to help the pets.”

RAK has helped various charities in the past, but has rarely helped any kind of animal or pet foundation. When Alexandra realized this she immediately took action: “RAK has not paid much attention to animals in the past, so I knew I wanted to change that,” Alexandra continues.

“As the owner of a dog rescued from a bad situation, I want to do my part to help other pets in need. I decided on a local charity so I could help my community along with other pets who have experienced poor conditions like mine did.”

RAK is taking donations of wet/dry food, toys, treats, beds, litter, bowls, and shampoo/conditioner. Donations will be accepted from February 7th through the 16th in the donation box located in the cafeteria.

For any further questions please contact Señora Masotta (Room 209). RAK looks forward to receiving a lot of donations for this drive. It is unique to other drives they have done before and is for a very good cause.
