Who is she?
The main character of this bizarre story is named Onijah Robinson, otherwise known as the woman who refused to leave Pakistan after being rejected by a 19-year-old Pakistani man. This was the start to Onijah Robinson’s unique story. This 33-year-old New Yorker traveled to Karachi, Pakistan, with the intention of marrying a teen named, Nidal Ahmed Memon, who she online dated. His family intervened and ended any idea of a wedding.
What is she doing there?
She had a 30 day visa to stay in Pakistan but she couldn’t afford to fly home so she decided to make the best of it. She was there for 4 months and she had big ideas for the future of Pakistan. By being loud and turning heads in the streets of Pakistan she grew a name for herself. With her new popularity, she managed to hold a few press conferences with the Pakistani government. She presented a few requests, “I want 20k up front, and five to ten thousand dollars to stay here every week, and I want those demands from the government right away,” claiming she needed it all to refine the streets of Pakistan such as fixing the streets, infrastructure, and public transportation. “My plan is to reconstruct this whole country, okay?” And as some reporters joked, “As a Pakistani woman, I accept her as our new prime minister.” Meanwhile, she spent her nights camping outside of the 19 year old’s apartment complex.

What led this woman to make these strange decisions?
Well, her son, Eden Robinson, claimed that his mother is bipolar. He also expressed his concerns for her mental health specifically while she was in Pakistan, “She can’t think correctly at this moment“. It’s suggested that her impulsive trip was influenced by that and her very recent divorce. Around the time of her divorce she was also freshly released from a mental facility. Yes, just prior to her trip, Ms. Robinson was discharged from a mental hospital and to fuel the flames, divorced. Though her release from the hospital should imply that she was treated, her spontaneous trip to Pakistan shows otherwise.
Where is Onija now?
After her 30 day visa turned into a 4 month stay in Pakistan, she took a short trip to Dubai right before returning to the US. Now Onija has safely returned to her home in New York!
