Gabriel Whittenton is an interesting and stylish sophomore at Brunswick High School. He spends most of his time at school, studying theater and partaking in BHStage Drama Club productions. This year, students and community members may know him as the sinister “Sheriff” from The Somewhat True Tales of Robin Hood. He is currently in the midst of the production Seussical, the 2026 BHS spring musical.
“I’m currently Mr. Mayor in Seussical. The highlight of my school year is theater. Particularly theater class. I love spending that time getting to learn with my friends about acting and memorization. I’ve just gotten into it and it’s been part of my life for a long time,” Whittenton said.
Besides his current interest in theatrical arts, Whittenton is considering some pathways for his future career. He enjoys theater, undoubtedly. But something some don’t know is that he is passionate about science, particularly biology. This year he studied biology in Mr. Garrison’s class and that’s when the spark was heavily lit.
“Right now, I have a few options for my goals. I’m thinking that one could be a teacher. Specifically in either theater or biology. I could also pursue a career in the medical field as a medical biologist. For that, I’d need a doctorate,” Whittenton said.
Whittenton isn’t just a studious student but he has many personal interests that make up his special individuality. He can be seen throughout his neighborhood rolling around on his skateboard. He also enjoys extra free time by playing on his X-Box with some of his best friends and family.
Whittenton is passionate about music too and frequently references his favorite band, “Breaking Benjamin” as well as other metal artists. Regarding his love for music, he even studies guitar in Mr. Hendy’s first block class. His hobbies and studies help make up the interesting person he is but behind the surface, Whittenton is a philosophical soul and thinks deeply about the world in a curious way.
“My message for the world is to be you, do you, for you,” Whittenton said.
A unique student and friend to many, Whittenton has lots to offer to the world and to other people.
